Quotes on Communication

July 15th, 2008 Sean Murphy

Two from “Knots” by R.D. Laing

“What Jack says about Jill,
Says more about Jack,
Than it does about Jill.”

If I don’t know I don’t know, I think I know
If I don’t know I know, I think I don’t know

Three that I have not been able to source:

“Listen for what isn’t being said.”

“Most communication is indirect.”

The primary barrier to communication is the belief that it’s occurred.

Our plan for 2010: kill initiatives we can't fix, experiment cautiously, and treat social capital with the same care as cash.
