Georgi Dagnall on Steve Blank’s Visit to April 2011 Bootstrapper Breakfast
After every Bootstrapper Breakfast® we E-mail all of the participants and ask them for “one thing you learned at the breakfast.” Georgi Dagnall left a nice comment after Steve Blank visited on Friday (I have added some links for context)
“Sean suggested that I read the book, Four Steps to the Epiphany written by Steve Blank. I took his advice and found it to be one of the most practical business books I had ever read. When I heard that Steve was going to be the speaker at this Bootstrappers Breakfast, I had to attend to hear him talk in this intimate venue. I learned much, but the best point was the suggestion that Steve had to read the book, Business Model Generation. It is on my To Do list.”

Missing the Epiphany
The SD Forum Marketing SIG was good last night. Most of the advice was well received by the startups that agreed to have their marketing plans discussed in public.
One of the most interesting pieces of advice was from Sean Murphy of SKMurphy. He suggested that the execs of these startups should read through a book called “The Four Steps to the Epiphany“. I checked it out on Amazon. It got great reviews.
Now for the strange part. This book, which was published in 2005 and which is widely respected in the startup community, is not available in the local libraries in the Bay Area. I have checked the on-line catalogs for the public libraries in SF, San Jose, Santa Clara and Mountain View. All 4 did not have any reference for this book. This makes no sense.
To look through this book, I may have to turn to my Library of Last Resorts, aka Barnes and Noble.

About Geogad
The name Geogad is a combination of two words, geo, which means Earth or world, and gad, which means to roam or wander.
Geogad makes it simple for people to use their mobile MP3 players to learn more about the places that they visit without carrying heavy guide books or being tied to someones else’s schedule.
Geogad Mobile Tours give busy travelers a quick, easy way for them to get more from their travel experiences with the mobile devices that they already carry with them. Geogad’s products do not require hard-to-find hardware, proprietary software, special code numbers or software registration keys.
