Hello 2008

Hello 2008Let’s hope the New Year finds us all healthy, surrounded by loved ones, and living up to our potential.

A quartet of quotes from Mignon McLaughlin to help kick off 2008:

The time to begin most things was ten years ago.
It can take a while to realize what your situation requires. Good habits can be hard to start. Don’t let delay or prior inaction become an ongoing excuse for not doing what’s needed now.

Courage can’t see around corners, but goes around them anyway.
In Meditations, Marcus Aurelius contrasts dancing, a planned and patterned activity, with wrestling, which requires dealing with events in real time. He wrote, “The art of living resembles wrestling more than dancing, in as much as it stands prepared and unshaken to meet what comes and what it did not foresee.” Entrepreneurship requires you to be equally comfortable dancing or wrestling.

Every day of our lives we are on the verge of making those slight changes that would make all of the difference.
You can always improve. You may have missed our chance yesterday, or worse, screwed up, but you can still make improvements today.

Don’t be yourself–be someone a little nicer.
Asking yourself and your team, “Is this the best we can do?” is a good habit that encourages ongoing performance improvement and creative problem-solving. But asking, “How can I be kinder?” encourages better behavior and stronger relationships. High performance and strong relationships are both essential to success as an individual and an entrepreneur.
