3 Things I Learned at WIC Tech Talk

Denise Brousseau gave a great talk on “Play Like the Big Guys: How To Use New Web Tools To Easily Build Your Company” at WIC April-16-2007.

Practical Tips from Denise Brousseau at WIC April 16, 2007

I enjoyed the latest WIC (Women In Consulting) South Bay lunch today. Denise Brosseau from Brosseau & Associates talked about tools that she or clients use to run their business. Her talk, “Play Like the Big Guys: How To Use New Web Tools To Easily Build Your Company” was full of ideas and useful tools. Here’s three that I think are worth sharing:

1. Denise used Yahoo Small Business to create her website. It was easily to use and flexible. Her 20 page website took about 2 weekends to create.

2. She loves AVG for virus software.

3. She uses Meeting Wizard to schedule meetings with multiple people.

Update Feb-23-2026 Meeting Wizard is no more Yahoo Small Business is now Turbify.

Denise Brousseau now runs the Thought Leadership Lab. She published a book in 2013, “Ready to Be a Thought Leader?” In an interview for the book she observed, “Thought leaders are change makers who move and inspire others with their innovative ideas, turn those ideas into reality, and then create a dedicated group of friends, fans, and followers to help them replicate and scale those ideas into sustainable change. They spread their ideas, programs, or initiatives far beyond one company, organization, or community to make a broader impact in their industry or in the world. The definition of thought leadership doesn’t change based on which arena you are playing in. The key is whether someone is focused on change that is incremental or truly revolutionary. Thought leaders focus on the latter. For me, thought leadership is not about being known, it is about being known for making a difference. To be a true thought leader, focus on adding real value to the world. It is not about building followers just for the ego value. It is about building visibility, credibility, and a platform in order to have a meaningful impact.”
