Three Useful Tools: MyPermissions, SocialMention, HackerFollow

This “time capsule” post from 2012 lists some useful tools like MyPermissions, SocialMention, and HackerFollow that are now defunct.

MyPermissions, SocialMention, HackerFollow

MyPermissions (was http://mypermissions.org/) Checks for third party application access to your Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Dropbox, Instagram, and Flickr accounts.

  • Bliss Control was a directory of links to the key commands needed to manage your social media settings. The tool allowed you to quickly easily the correct settings page on the top social networks. Bliss Control only providede links, you login directly to the service you want to update.

SocialMention (was http://www.socialmention.com/) Allows you to do keyword and phrase search across more than one hundred social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed, YouTube, Digg, Google, etc…

  • I now use Syften for this,  but it’s not as broad as SocialMention was.
